New direction for editorial page welcomed
In reply to your recent article concerning Charles Kochakian, I was amused to read about his so-called “balanced” editorializing of current events.
Mr. Kochakian had a stranglehold on the New Haven Register’s editorial page for years.
Even when presented with the specific, concrete facts supporting an opinion different from his own, he was unflinching in his loyalty to his own words.
However, his retirement is a symptom of a larger problem. The Register has been shrinking in size (less column inches) and readership for a long time.
Change for the sake of change is rarely a good thing. But I applaud the future changes to the editorial page envisioned by the Register.
