Two-parent upbringing key to future success
The recent New Haven Register article about attorney Michelle Alexander's book called "The New Jim Crow" cites the rise in African-American men with felony records as a new normal.
I propose a correlation between that statistic and the numbers of African-American children being born to single mothers.
Any child born in poverty without a strong two-parent family is doomed to struggle.
Children in America, no matter what background, deserve loving involved fathers as roll models and schools that demand excellence and parental support. Families that worship together also contribute to the success of the family unit. I offer these guidelines as a basis for raising children. That's what any government program's emphasis should be on.
