I am writing in response to the column by Susan Campbell Jan. 30. She makes reference to the meeting in Hartford on the aftermath of Sandy Hook. The meeting contained opinions of people from different points of view. Ms. Campbell seems to believe that the input from manufacturers and proponents of gun ownership should be “shouted down.” Wasn’t the whole purpose of the meeting to hear from varying viewpoints? The families of the victims showed tolerance to other speakers, but Ms. Campbell doesn’t think that should be. Some people today are not satisfied to disagree, but have to demonize their opponents. I personally find this counterproductive and disgusting.
