The opinion article in the Jan. 6 New Haven Register concerning the BATFE's  (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) problems omitted any mention of "Operation Fast and Furious."

This ATF-sponsored program allowed "straw gun buyers" to purchase approximately 2,700 "assault rifles" that ended up in Mexico. The resulting congressional investigation resulted in Attorney General Eric Holder being indicted for criminal and civil contempt of Congress.

Because of a near total media failure to cover this ongoing story, most people don't even know about it. With all the gun legislation being considered, people should know all sides of the story.
