Divorce laws in Connecticut stacked against men
Kudos to the letter written by Mr. Joseph Kusiak pertaining to the defense of dads and criticizing the legal system in Connecticut.
To enter into a divorce proceeding for a man is a path to hell. The current laws in our state were manufactured and written in the 1970s when our society was a much different world. Women and men played far distant roles in and out of the home.
Unfortunately, today’s legal system caters to women and treats men unjustly. True, there exist so-called “deadbeat dads,” much as there are probably “incompetent moms.” Our courts need to better assess each case individually and stop making gender-based rulings.
Legislation needs to take place in Hartford to perhaps make it so that if either party in a marriage wants out, that individual should have to compensate their chosen spouse financially. Maybe then the divorce rate will lower and families will not be so easily destroyed.
For either parent to be removed from their children is a crime. The entire family and extended family all suffer. Not to mention the most innocent of victims those who will suffer in the greatest amount of ways, the children.
