Stereotyping gun owners

According to the left wing zealots we have in politics, we are not supposed to judge all Muslims by the acts of a few "crazies." But the acts of a few American "crazies" is enough to judge all Americans who own guns! Dictators prefer unarmed citizens.

I am also concerned that the state is taking this as an opportunity to raise funds. While many people vilify gun owners because it is fashionable it is also unfair- legal gun owners like myself enjoy shooting at the range as well as feeling more secure at home. The state has decided to charge us to register our rifles-How will they know who to bill? Oddly enough, they will just look on the list of PREVIOUSY legally registered guns (using my state issued pistol permit) IT'S ALREADY REGISTERED YOU MORONS! This is just an attempt to close the budget gap. It will not take one more illegal gun off the street or identify one more unregistered gun. Remember guns don't kill people-pressure cookers do!

I appreciate both of your comments, and you state your points well (especially the state wanting to make money). But after having read the article, I think you need to tell your brothers (aka "right-wing zealots") to tone it down if you want people to not judge gun owners in a negative light (just like the vast Muslim community needs to address their "fringe"). No one is taking away all your guns, and never will. You might say the rally was presented negatively by the "liberal" media, but it sure sounded like they imported someone from down south to urge you to rebel against a state law. First, he can stay down south and have whatever state laws (or lack thereof) he wants in his home state, and if any Connecticut residents don't like the new state law, they can go with him and stay there. Or they can push for the election of gun-friendly elected officials in our state. But for the protesters to declare this as unconstitutional is garbage. The law was created by a lawfully-elected legislature in a lawful process (as per our state constitution), and will no doubt be fought all the way up to the US Supreme Court. THEY (as provided BY the Constitution) will be the ultimate judge of constitutionailty, not a bunch of faux neo-patriots who are just looking for an excuse to use their weapons. And for any one of them to invoke the founding fathers, I'm sure a lot of them would be insulted that we are questioning their elegant system of government, however imperfect the humans that are part of it are. Some of the statements attributed to the speakers sound an awful lot like inciting a riot at least, and worthy of notice by the government. If you don't want to be lumped with the "crazies" that commit the atrocities, don't be associated with the "crazies" that are praying for civil war so they can go down as martyrs (sounds like the radical Muslims, doesn't it?).
