Lesil Hanby suggests in a letter to the editor (May 6) that the liberal New Haven Register use as an underlying principle - "Republicans and Independents are bigoted, self-serving, gun slinging, uneducated hypocrites." Well, I am an Independent, since 1967, and I am not a - bigoted, self-serving, gun slinging, uneducated hypocrite. In fact, if not for us Independents, our government, local, state, national, would be inundated with bigoted, self-serving, gun-slinging, uneducated, and, I might add, clueless Republicans.
