Plan B is an abortifacient, not a contraceptive
I would like to clarify or inform the writer of the recent editorial in the New Haven Register regarding moving the drug “Plan B” from behind the counter to regular store shelves in the name of women’s "health care." The vast majority of people have been misled by this medication being called "emergency contraception." The medication works in one of three ways. It can prevent ovulation, increase the viscosity of the cervical mucoa, or prevent the implantation of a fertilized egg. Therefore, there is a 33 percent chance that it is working as an abortifacient, since conception would have already occurred. How can it possibly be referred to as a "contra"-ceptive if conception has occurred in one-third of the cases?
Do you realize that most if not all states require parental notification for a school nurse to give an aspirin or acetaminophen to a minor. The same is true regarding the use of tanning beds. But mention any law regarding parental notification for a minor to have an abortion or use an abortifacient, and the left wing will come out of the woodwork protesting such a law in order to defend what they call "women’s healthcare." How can they possibly be out for women’s health when they also shot down legislation prohibiting abortions based on what sex the baby is? It seems to me that a little more common sense is needed in today’s society. People need to do their homework on the issues and not take the mainstream media’s word on everything.
