Hamden and Cheshire police, neighbor showed compassion in the storm

The recent mega blizzard that impacted our area also created two rather unique situations for our family. Both deserve a public note of thanks.
Two days after the storm, it was discovered that my elderly father in Cheshire was nearly out of the critical medications he must take every day. As family and friends were all snowed in, I summoned the Hamden and Cheshire police for assistance. The Hamden officer met me near my home and transported our ready-made package of medication to the Cheshire line, where Sgt. Kevin O'Donnell took over and got through to my father in the north end of town with the supplies.
A day or so later, my father was observed wandering in the street in the cold and snowy aftermath looking for his mailbox. In what can only be described as the act of a guardian angel (perhaps unaware of her role), a local lady, Mrs W. and her husband found him and guided him back to his house. A short time later, she returned with a warm chicken dinner she bought for him out of concern.
My father is 86 and suffers from dementia among other typical senior health problems. The kindness and compassion of the Hamden and Cheshire police departments, along with the truly angelic Mrs W. averted a far more serious situation. Our family sends profound and grateful thanks to each of you.
Charles A. Mosher
Hamden
