Ending car tax will only shift burden to others who can't afford to pay

I found it interesting that a recent Register editorial regarding the end of the car tax mentioned, "And because it is based on local property tax rates low income families in Bridgeport or New Haven are paying far more in taxes on the same car than wealthy families in the suburbs."
First of all, I am in the suburbs and I am not wealthy.
Secondly, while my car tax is probably lower, my house tax is substantially higher than the difference in the car tax paid by those of the low income families who more than likely pay no house tax. I also receive less services for my tax dollar than the low income families in a city, i.e. no public transportation, no trash pick up, no full-time police force, and no paid fire department. It is because of these services that each city or town sets their mill rates. For an equitable and fair car tax the mill rates would have to be equal across city/town lines.
Thirdly, the city has substantially more commercial real estate than the suburbs and therefore has a much broader tax base on which to make up the short fall.
I anticipate my property taxes increasing significantly to make up the void created by the elimination of the car tax. Low income families who will now pay no car tax and have no property tax will not be paying any local taxes for local services.
Lastly, the percentage of low income car owners in the city is far less than the percentage of car owners in the suburbs so the overall numbers are not significant regarding the cities tax base.  The elimination of the car tax is fair in that those with a car who also pay an additional property tax are now not paying a double tax but like every other property owner will now pay more.
