Some comments have been made to the effect that Derby does not need Aldi's Supermarket to open on the former site of the old Italian Pavilion building, because Shop-Rite, Stop & Shop, and Big Y supermarkets were nearby. However, Valley shoppers miss the former Derby Xpect Store, and the Aldi's store, would help fill that void. Competition is also good for a successful business climate.
