As a concerned citizen in this ever-changing world, I can't help but get involved in what is going on. I believe that gun laws have to change. They should change the laws so that assault-type weapons cannot be owned with a normal gun permit.
The reasoning is simple: why do you need an AK-47 to protect yourself when a simple handgun can do the same, possibly even better?
Background checks also need to be better. They need to go deep, and see medical records and do tests on the individual. This is needed because too many people that commit gun crimes are not up to par mentally. Granted, this might not change the level of violence we have, but it would certainly help.
