Meaningful change after Sandy Hook vs. confiscating guns

In recent news articles, Neil Heslin said he was ashamed of Congress for not having the guts to ban these weapons and enact universal background checks.
He should be ashamed of the Connecticut State Police for holding back that information that leaked out. Our legislators should have access to that information so they can make changes that will be effective, not just changes.
Nancy Lefkowitz is upset Connecticut legislators have not yet done anything. Do they want meaningful legislation or just quick change?
Recently Gov. Malloy said no one is talking about gun confiscation. They want registration of all guns. That is the first step in confiscation because then they know where all the guns are. Right now they don't know where they are.
Background checks are good, but if they don't have access to mental health records it will help very little. All these horrific shootings are clearly done by people with mental issues.
