President Obama is trying to protect, not use, children

This is in response to Alice Lehr's recent letter regarding President Obama's "use of our children" to promote his agenda.
Following the Newtown massacre of 20 innocent children and six adults protecting them, President Obama signed executive orders for several gun safety measures. That day, four children and their parents, among many others, were honored to be there with him. The four children had written beautifully articulate letters to the president pleading with him to adopt measures to keep them safe from such horror. Anyone watching that day could not help being touched by their presence.
What politician running for office has not held babies and shaken the hands of children and adults as part of their campaign appearances? Does President Obama "like children?" He was quoted as saying that no single event had ever touched his heart with such sorrow as did the tragedy at Newtown.
As he met and shed tears with the families of the innocents who met their death that day, I am certain they would contend that President Obama loves all the children in our country.
Alice Lehr concludes by asking, "What enemy is he fighting now?" Unfortunately, and tragically for our country, President Obama is fighting the same enemy he has been throughout his presidency ... a Congress dominated by Republicans who care only about obstructing this president and care nothing about the people they were elected to represent and serve ... including the children!

Emotional propaganda is a powerful weapon Nancy. I will not go so far as to say the President "doesn't love children", but programs and policies that he is implementing will be hurtful to those "children" and their parents. Medicare, Medicaid, all of the programs designed to help those in need of care are already being changed to accommodate his changes in healthcare and budget cuts. I have family members that WORK who are caught in a "mid range" income status that are falling thru the cracks already. They're losing care (medicines!), then getting huge bills for unpaid medical bills. Kids are being affected by parents that now have uncared for medical issues because they aren't affordable. And when November comes and having "a policy" is mandatory, the premiums are so high already that it will be less expensive to be "penalized"! It's crazy. The old saying, "The best thing a man can do for his children is love their mother", should be taken to heart by this President. There is a ripple effect that he is thinking will stay a ripple...when in essence it's going to cause a tsunami in our country.
